Concrete fiber range

The Polyguard concrete fiber range

Macro and micro synthetic fibers for concrete and asphalt. Every grade is supplied with a technical data sheet and a dosage recommendation for your mix. For full specifications see the polypropylene concrete fibers page and the macro synthetic fiber page.

Jointless polished concrete floor in a distribution warehouse
PG MF-54

Structural macro fiber

The workhorse grade for slabs on grade, industrial floors and rafts. Embossed macro filaments anchor into the matrix and carry load across a crack once it forms. That post-crack residual capacity is what can allow crack-control mesh to be reduced or replaced, where the structural design and the required residual performance permit.

Fiber length
54 mm
Typical dosage
3–7 kg/m³
Material
Virgin polypropylene
Best for
Floors, rafts, hardstandings

Macro synthetic fibers dispersed through freshly placed concrete
PG SC-48

Shotcrete fiber

Shaped and sized to pump and spray cleanly, with low rebound and no blocking at the nozzle. Designed as an alternative to welded mesh in tunnel linings and slope stabilisation, subject to performance-based design — where fixing steel is the slowest and least safe part of the cycle.

Fiber length
48 mm
Typical dosage
4–9 kg/m³
Application
Wet and dry spray
Best for
Tunnels, slopes, mining

Precast concrete facade panels being lifted into position
PG PC-40

Precast & facade fiber

For thin architectural sections that have to survive demoulding, stacking, transport and lifting. Because polypropylene does not corrode, it eliminates the fiber-related rust bleed and staining that comes from the reinforcement it replaces.

Fiber length
40 mm
Typical dosage
2–5 kg/m³
Surface
No rust bleed
Best for
Panels, culverts, segments

Fresh fiber-reinforced concrete flowing from a chute on site
PG EC-45

Economic macro fiber

Specified where the concrete needs reliable crack control rather than a full structural replacement for reinforcement. The lowest cost per cubic metre in the range, without dropping to recycled polymer.

Fiber length
45 mm
Typical dosage
2–4 kg/m³
Material
Virgin polypropylene
Best for
Screeds, paving, light slabs

Roller compacting a freshly laid asphalt layer
PG AS-20

Asphalt reinforcing fiber

Dosed at the asphalt plant to hold the binder film and resist rutting and reflective cracking on heavily loaded pavements — bus lanes, port surfacing, industrial yards.

Fiber length
20 mm
Typical dosage
0.05–0.3% by mass
Added at
Pugmill / drum mixer
Best for
Heavy-duty pavements

Fiber-reinforced concrete discharging onto an industrial floor slab
PG MS-12

Micro monofilament fiber

Controls plastic shrinkage and settlement cracking in the first hours after placing, and improves fire spalling behaviour in tunnel and structural concrete. Often specified alongside a macro grade.

Fiber length
6 / 12 / 18 mm
Typical dosage
0.6–1.2 kg/m³
Controls
Plastic shrinkage
Best for
All concrete, fire-rated mixes
