Industrial flooring fiber
Reduce total reinforcement cost, not just the steel invoice
Compare the total installed cost of conventional reinforcement — not just the price of steel — with the Polyguard fiber solution.
The expensive problem
A mesh layer costs far more than the mesh
By the time a mesh layer is in the slab it has collected seven other cost lines, and the project pays every one of them.
- Steel purchase, priced per kilo but ordered with lap and cutting waste
- Transport to site and the yard space to store it
- Cutting, bending and offcuts that leave as scrap
- Chairs, spacers and tying wire, plus the labour to set them
- A fixing crew whose day is not spent placing concrete
- Supervision and cover checks before the pour is released
- Pours that wait for the steel to be signed off

The Polyguard solution
Structural macro fiber, dosed in the batch
Embossed macro polypropylene filaments are dosed by kg/m³ at the batching plant and dispersed through the whole section. Once a crack forms the fibers bridge it and carry load across it — the mechanism that lets a designed dose take the place of a crack-control mesh where the engineering design permits.

What comes off the bill
Cost lines that stop existing
Where the design permits mesh removal, these leave the programme as well as the budget.
- Steel purchase and the waste allowance on top of it
- Transport, offloading and yard storage
- Cutting and bending on site
- Chairs, spacers and tying wire
- Mesh-placing labour and the supervision that checks it
- Programme float lost waiting for reinforcement sign-off
- Long-term repair of corrosion-driven cracking and spalling
The comparison that matters
Installed cost, side by side
Set the two bars against each other with your own rates. On many projects the steel purchase is only one component of the installed reinforcement cost. Accessories, fixing labour, logistics, waste and programme effects carry the rest, and together they move the final cost per square metre more than the steel invoice does.

Two horizons
Saved on day one, saved for twenty years
Day one
- Steel, accessories and fixing labour removed from the bill
- Pours released sooner — no reinforcement inspection queue
- Smaller site crew, less lifting and handling
- Fewer deliveries and less yard congestion
Over the service life
- No corrosion, so no rust staining or spalled cover to repair
- Crack control through the section, not just at mid-depth
- Fewer joint and surface repairs interrupting operations
- Downtime avoided in a building that has to keep running
Worked example — 5,000 m² warehouse slab
Illustrative rates. Replace every figure with your own in the calculator below.
- Slab
- 5,000 m² × 180 mm = 900 m³
- Mesh
- 3.9 kg/m² + 12% lap waste
- Steel at 0.90 /kg
- ≈ 19,650
- Chairs & spacers at 0.35 /m²
- 1,750
- Placing labour at 1.60 /m²
- 8,000
- Conventional, installed
- ≈ 29,400
- Polyguard at 4 kg/m³, 3.40 /kg
- ≈ 12,240
- Direct saving
- ≈ 17,160 · ≈ 3.43 /m²
The steel line is 19,650 of a 29,400 package. Even if steel were free, the remaining 9,750 would still be on the job — which is why the comparison has to be made on installed cost.

Indicative only. The dosage must be confirmed by structural design and a trial mix; removing mesh is valid only where the engineering design permits it.
